ED receives approval to prosecute Arvind Kejriwal and Sisodia in the money laundering case connected to Delhi liquor policy scam.

New Delhi, Digital Desk || Union Home Ministry has approved the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to prosecute Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal and former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia in a money laundering case related to the Delhi liquor policy scandal.

This decision follows the approval from Delhi LG, VK Saxena, to prosecute Kejriwal in the case. A month later, the ED wrote to VK Saxena requesting permission to prosecute Arvind Kejriwal, labeling him as the “kingpin and key conspirator” in the scam.

In response, AAP chief approached the Delhi High Court, arguing that the ED’s chargesheet against him and others was illegal, as it was filed without obtaining prior approval from the appropriate authorities.

The case against Kejriwal involves allegations of irregularities in the formulation of the now-repealed Delhi excise policy for 2021-22. It is claimed that Arvind Kejriwal, along with other AAP leaders including Sisodia, deliberately designed loopholes in the policy to secure kickbacks from liquor lobbyists.
