Chief Justice John Roberts administered the oath, with Vance accompanied by his wife, Usha Vance, and their daughter. At 40 years old, JD Vance becomes the third-youngest Vice President in U.S. history.
Following Vance’s swearing-in, Donald Trump was inaugurated as the 47th President of USA, marking his return to the presidency. President Trump used the historic Bible once held by Abraham Lincoln for his oath of office.
The inauguration day began with a performance of ”Oh, America’ by tenor Christopher Macchio in the Capitol Rotunda. President Trump arrived at the Capitol with outgoing President Joe Biden, following a traditional tea ceremony at the White House. During their meeting, Biden welcomed Trump with the words, “Welcome Home,” and left a letter for his successor in the Oval Office.
After the swearing-in, President Trump participated in a signing ceremony in the President’s Room, continuing a tradition that began with President Ronald Reagan in 1981. This ceremony involved signing nominations, memorandums, and proclamations.
The day’s events included a luncheon, a review of the troops, and the inaugural parade on Capitol Hill. President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump later attended a signing ceremony at the White House and delivered remarks at the Convention Center.
The evening culminated with the first dance at the Liberty Ball, followed by appearances at the Commander-in-Chief Ball and the United States Ball. The inauguration festivities concluded with the Trumps returning to the White House.
Earlier, on January 6, President Trump’s election victory was certified without objections during the official tally of states on the House floor. Trump secured 312 electoral votes, while his opponent Kamala Harris received 226, confirming his win and marking the final step in the election process.
