Kendrick Perkins criticized Stephen Curry’s 2025 All-Star selection, arguing his performance doesn’t justify it over more deserving Western Conference players.
New Delhi, Digital Desk || Former NBA player and analyst Kendrick Perkins has stirred debate by stating that Stephen Curry does not deserve an All-Star spot this season. His remarks have sparked discussions among basketball fans and analysts, as Curry remains one of the most influential figures in the league. While the Golden State Warriors star continues to be his team’s leader, Perkins argues that his recent performances do not warrant an All-Star nod.
Perkins Calls Out NBA Over Curry’s Inclusion in 2025 All-Star Game
NBA recently revealed the list of players selected for the highly anticipated All-Star Game, set to take place in the San Francisco Bay Area from February 14 to 16, 2025. Among the chosen stars is Stephen Curry, but his selection has drawn criticism from some analysts and fans who believe other players were more deserving.
Kendrick Perkins did not hold back in expressing his disagreement
“No matter what the fans want, no matter what the coaches want, no matter who we want to see, you still have to earn your spot through production,” Perkins said. “If you compare the numbers, there are players in the Western Conference who are outperforming Steph and leading their teams to better records. So tell me, am I lying?”
While Curry has been a game-changing figure in the NBA, his numbers this season have dipped. The Warriors have struggled, and Curry is averaging 22.3 points per game-his lowest since the 2011-12 season. His shooting efficiency has also taken a hit, with a career-worst 44% from the field. With multiple players posting better stats and contributing to more successful teams, some analysts question whether Curry truly earned his All-Star spot.
NBA Prioritized Curry’s Star Power Over Performance
Perkins went a step further, suggesting that the NBA’s decision to select Curry over other standout players was driven by factors beyond performance. He pointed out that several Western Conference stars, including Domantas Sabonis, Kyrie Irving, Devin Booker, De’Aaron Fox, and Norman Powell, were left off the roster despite having strong seasons.
“Are we really going to ignore other players who have earned it just because we have bigger names to showcase?” Perkins asked. “Is the All-Star Game not about production anymore?”
Despite the criticism, Curry will take part in the star-studded event alongside top names like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Nikola Jokic, Kevin Durant, and LeBron James. However, the conversation around the 2025 All-Star snubs continues, with many believing that several deserving players were unfairly overlooked.
