New Delhi (28th December 2023) || Renowned actor Sajid Khan, known for his unforgettable performances in timeless classics like “Maya” and “Mother India,” passed away after a prolonged battle with cancer. He passed away on December 22, 2023. His demise signifies the end of a remarkable era, leaving an irreplaceable void in the realm of entertainment. He has been laid to rest at the Kayamkulam Town Juma Masjid in Kerala’s Alappuzha district.
In an interview with PTI, Khan’s son, Sameer, shared that the veteran actor was battling cancer. “My father was adopted by Rajkumar Pitamber Rana and Sunita Pitamber and was nurtured by filmmaker Mehboob Khan,” Sameer revealed. “He had been less active in films, dedicating himself mostly to philanthropy. He found a profound connection with Kerala, where he remarried and settled,” he added.
Living with his second wife in Kerala, the actor, deeply involved in charitable work, grew fond of the state during frequent visits, eventually making it his home.
Sajid Khan gained global acclaim for his compelling portrayal of Raji, a local character in the film “Maya,” propelling him to international stardom among teenagers. His on-screen chemistry with Jay North resonated deeply with audiences, garnering widespread appreciation and even inspiring a series of the same name.
Additionally, Khan found immense popularity in the Philippines as the lead in several hit romantic comedies, including ‘The Singing Filipina,’ ‘My Funny Girl,’ and ‘The Prince and I,’ where he starred alongside actor Nora Aunor.
